Hello and welcome I’m Dwayne, a creative producer deeply immersed in the world of education across London’s museums, and a freelance science communicator.
My journey in education has taken me through various museums across London. This has been more than just a career for me; it’s been a fervent passion. With a background in both Social Anthropology and Linguistic Cognitive Anthropology, my perspective on education has been shaped by a rich blend of formal and informal learning experiences. I’ve found my niche in the world of informal education, driven by a deep-seated belief in the power of stories, both individual and cultural.
My path has been anything but conventional. Past experiences within the educational system left me with a chip on my shoulder, driving me to seek alternative avenues for learning and growth. The informal setting of museums became like a home to me where I could weave threads of knowledge, creativity and imagination into narratives powerful and personal.
Why AnanSci
Well, Anansi/Anancy, the mischievous spider from West African and Caribbean folklore, is more than just a character to me. He’s an archetype that embodies the spirit of curiosity, quick wits, and the art of navigating odd circumstances, often of his own making. Much like Anansi, I’ve discovered that the principles of the scientific method, especially observation and questioning, can be applied in diverse ways, not just in laboratories but in our everyday lives. The name AnanSci-Com is a play on the name Anansi and Sci-com (Science Communication).
Exploring Creativity and Problem-Solving:
In this blog, I will dive deep into the intricacies of thinking creatively, embracing lateral thinking and unlocking potential in imagination. Whether you’re a fellow educator, a curious mind, a forward thinking employer, a student or someone navigating the challenges of problem-solving, I hope this may be of some use towards your personal and professional development.
